I have to tell you I have never in my life heard of that song or that band (that's what living over the other side of the world will do to to ya) but might I say I am all the more better for hearing that song...thank you inchy! It brought a smile to my lunch break.

We've heard of Abba and Boney M but I do not know of one Aussie who has heard of th Goombay Dance Band.
I completely agree with you that there is something wrong with that picture - how could we be missing out!?!
P.s I had a German pen pal once...for years we wrote to one another. He sent me a German band's CD (they sung in English) called Phillip Boa and the Voodoo Dolls.
They absolutely rock and I still listen to them today.
But I don't think many Aussies would know about them either.....
