The (not very much) Happening

Oh dear.

M. Night Shamalamadingdong, you promised me SO much in the trailer!

I can't believe what I've just sat through. 90 minutes that would barely make into a Hammer House Of Horror script. 'The Happening' is one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. From half way through, when the plot is starting to unravel, I found myself thinking "He better not be planning on ending this film the way I think he's going to?!", and he did. I don't really want to spoil it for anyone, but if I did you'd be thanking me. As for the cast, well, you know things are bad when John Leguizamo is the best actor in the film! Mark Wahlberg is as wooden as a 12 foot dining table, and Zooey Deschanel (Trillian from Hitchikers) is to acting what the drummer from Def Leppard is to juggling.

I liked 'The Village' and 'Unbreakable', and I loved 'Signs', but I've had urinary tract infections that are better than this film.

Avoid at all costs. 1/10

Your should be grateful Mr Inch, I have not made it to the pictures since New Years eve. Yes thats right - on my one night off from "the wain" with "the wife" I went to the pictures on hogmanay! It was so good I can't even remember what it was.

Anyway this film looks pants and might annoy me as much as "someone" who puts "things" in inverted commas.

I always treat reviews with a certain cynicism but what you said agrees entirely with what I've read.

It's a shame. Mr S started out so well. His first major film was a stunner. The second I loved too. The third was certainly worthwhile. Since then ...

I'll go and watch "Wanted" instead I think.

Sigh. I remain the only person in the known universe who liked this film. I think I may have been infected by plant-related neurotoxins in my brain or something.

That said, I must defend Ms. Deschanel. You can say what you like about Marky Mark, but have a gooey at Zooey and that's fighting talk, pal!

Rol - It seems to me that her sole acting talent is to have big puppy dog eyes, but then again so did Marty Feldman.

Lump - You should get out more, possibly in 2020 when the kids are a wee bit older. Just give me a phone.

Hmmm, Marty Feldman - dishy!
