"I'm completely operational and all my circuits are functioning perfectly"

You'll all be happy to know that Service Pack 1 installed with no problems, and that the McHal 9000 is back to full health. It did take while though, God knows (or Allah, or Buddha, or Krishna, or whoever, ffs!) what else was downloaded with it.

You're a brave man to have switched to Vista anyway - let alone installing Service Pack 1 - talking as someone who is still hiding under the covers of Windows XP...

It all started because I, stupidly, believed the marketing spin about the game 'Crysis'. Apparently it was only ever going to run on a Vista PC, so off I went and spent £1300 on a computer to play a £30 game (that turned out to be shite anyway), then they held it back and rejigged it so it'd play on the PC I'd got rid of in the first place...

Public Enemy had it right, don't believe the hype.

Don't even know how this thing runs. Not gas. Must be that new fangled electrickery or some'at

What the hell does XP stand for anyroad?

Honestly, as long as it works, leave it well alone. Unless you're some megalomaniac Uber geek like the Jagster, then just get the cheapest PC you can. As long as it surfs and mails, that's all you need. The bloody graphics card alone in my current PC cost more than my last PC did altogether, and what difference does it make???

Bugger all!

Apparently XP stood for eXPerience. And what an XP it is too.

Linux anyone?

So is Vista all colours and sparkling lights then?

I'll be years before I catch up!
